BREAKING: Graphic photos from the religious crisis in Zamfara


A violence on that erupted over an alleged blasphemy against prophet Mohammed has caused the death of about 8 people at the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata-Mafara on Monday.

According to reports, a student allegedly made a blasphemous statement against Islam and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and was consequently attacked by a mob.

The boy was beaten to pulp by the mob, and a man, named Tajudeen, reportedly took him in his car and rush to a hospital.

Enraged by the act of the man who rescued the student, an eye witnesses said that the mob moved to his (Tajudeen’s) house, set it on fire and killed eight persons.

The police have imposed a 12-hour curfew in the community, from 7p.m. to 7a.m. daily until further notice, with warning that anyone caught violating the order would be prosecuted

The home of a man named Tajudeen who rescued and helped to take the student to the hospital was razed by angry Muslims, killing 8 people. The school has been closed down indefinitely.
