Military won’t involve itself in Boko Haram’s Swap Request

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonishakin, says the military will not involve itself with swapping Boko Haram insurgents for the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.

As he says the decision to make the swap is a political one and that’s not in the scope of the military.

General Olonishakin said this at a meeting with service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. “The military decision is that we are going ahead with our operations,” he said.

He added that the military will make its statement on the footage released by Boko Haram once they are through investigating.

In the latest video, Boko Haram says they sect will not release any of the 200 girls it abducted until the federal government frees its fighters.

The military, in turn, declared three person’s wanted in connection to the video.
