Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin says he’ll only appear before the House Committee on Ethics and Privilege if the hearing is made public.
The Former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, in a press release, accused the Speaker of manipulating and abusing House rules.
The release points out that the Speaker did not open up the allegation of corruption levelled against him and other principal officers of the house. While Jibrin was accused of misconduct and referred to the Committee on Ethics and Privilege.
“The allegations I raised are too grievous to be reduced to such process open to manipulation and teleguiding,” he says. “ Despite all these and since I can substantiate the allegations I raised with cogency, I will take up the opportunity provided by the Ethics committee to state my case under the condition that the hearing will be public and will allow the Press, CSOs, NGOs, NLC, ASUU, NANS, NBA and the general public to witness the entire proceedings,” he adds.
He also clarified the narrative going round that he’s accusions are directed to the whole House.
“I wish to state for the umpteenth times that the allegations I raised are against the quartet of Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun, House Whip Alhassan Doguwa, Minority Leader Leo Ogor and few other members NOT the Honourable House as an institution”
