Governor Yahaya Bello did not order the arrest of Audu’s family members

Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor, Fanwo Kingsley says his principal did not order for the arrest of Abubakar Audu’s family members.

This Fanwo said in a press release.

It reads in part,

“The Governor did not order the arrest of anybody. However, law enforcement agents are free to effect arrest when anyone infringes the Law. If members of Audu family run foul of the Law, they would not be spared just because they are members of Audu’s family. Nobody is above the law.”

Further adding that “the Governor will never stop security agencies from carrying out their lawful responsibilities of safeguarding lives and property. Anyone who breaks the Law must be prepared for the consequences of doing so”.

Fanwo’s stance is a reaction to a statement attributed to Abubakar Audu’s younger brother, Mustafa, accusing the state governor of ordering the arrest of Audu’s family members. Adding that the Governor is using the police to intimidate their family due to statements Muhammed (Audu’s son) made on the Governor’s spending for the state’s 25th anniversary.

The late Abubakar Audu was a two time Kogi state governor between 1992 and 1993 and 1999 and 2003.
