Nine facts about former Super Eagles’ Defender, Joseph Yobo


After a stellar footballing career. Joseph stepped up to the plate as a chief in the Niger Delta region. That and a few other facts are in this piece.

1. Today, September 6, 2016 is his birthday. He’s 36.

2. He is the younger brother of former Nigeria international Albert Yobo

3. Joseph’s international debut for the Super Eagles was against Zambia in a 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifier on 24 March 2001.

4. He played 101 games for the Nigerian national team. Representing the Super Eagles at three FIFA World Cups and six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

5. He played for clubs in Belgium, England, France and Turkey

6. He founded the Joseph Yobo Charity Foundation in 2007

7. Joseph married 2008 MBGN, Adaeze Chinenye Igwe in 2010

8. He retired from international football in June 2014.
