Everybody wants to look younger than their age and people hate to be referred to as “Old”. If you want to have a healthy skin there are ways you can maintain and take care of your skin so you can achieve that look you desire.
Water makes up to 65% of your body and if your body is denied water there is a risk of having a wrinkled skin. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily to always keep your body hydrated. Always try and take water with you because it is important to always stay hydrated.
2. Get Enough Sleep
For your body to function at an optimal level you must get enough sleep, because your body prioritizes the functions it performs in an effort to conserve energy. An adequate sleep consists of 6-10 hrs. However, if you find it difficult to sleep try switching off your devices, have a hot refreshing bath and finally, try to relax.
3. Avoid Harsh Sun Rays
I know that it’s practically difficult to avoid the sun, especially here in Africa. The sad truth is that spending as little as 10 minutes of exposure to UVA rays each day can alter and age your skin. The best thing is to get creams that can help protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun. Don’t forget to always wear sunglasses they are just more than fashion.
4. Cleanse! Cleanse!! Cleanse!!!
Washing your face before bed and after bed with warm water helps to rid your pores of dirt, bacteria, and oils. This reduces the risk of breakouts and skin irritation.
Moisturizers and lotions help to repair dry skin, they also help to seal in your skin’s natural moisture and provide an additional layer of protection to the skin.
- Try coconut oil instead of lotions or creams.
- Those that have oily skins should avoid oil based products.
- Always remember to moisturize your neck when applying moisturizers on your face and body.
6. Take Care Of Your Makeup Brushes
For ladies who are into makeup, it is always advisable to clean your make up brushes, blenders and discard the old sponges. When you don’t clean the old makeup away from your brushes there are tendencies to have residual bacteria that can cause breakouts on your skin. when cleaning, it is also wise to use a drop of antiseptic while cleaning.
7. Facial Scrubs
Facial scrub helps to smoothen the skin as well as help get rid of dead skin revitalizing and diminishing the appearance of age signs. There are a few household items that can be used to make facial scrubs without having to break the bank or buy expensive facial products.
- Yogurt: this is an awesome ingredient for a good facial scrub, being a gentle acidic food; it helps prevent the skin from losing its natural sheen. It also helps to lighten dark spots.
1 teaspoon of turmeric powder with 1 teaspoon of yogurt makes an excellent scrub that can be applied on the face and neck.
- Coconut Oil: I spoke about this awesome ingredient above, it has proven to be an essential oil and it’s something that should always be in the house.
1 table spoon of coconut oil, a table spoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of demara sugar ( I’d use sugar if I can’t get this), and ½ teaspoon of salt. These make a scrub that can be used to help exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells keeping the skin dehydrated.
Other household items include:
- Red wine
- Dark chocolate
