Tech company, Google celebrates former Nigerian Super Eagles captain and coach, Late Stephen Okechukwu Keshi with a doodle on the occasion of his posthumous birthday which is today, January 23rd. Keshi would have been 56 today.
Google said the doodle was to recognise the legacy of the former coach Super Eagles captain who died on June 7, 2016, in Benin at 54.
Doodles are changes made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists and great men who have their marks.
He was the coach of Nigeria between 2011 and 2015, winning the African cup of Nations in 2013 and qualifying Nigeria for the FIFA Confederation Cup and the World Cup. Keshi won the West African Club Championship (1983, 1984), Coupe Houphoet Boigny (1985, 1986), Belgian Cup (1988, 1989) among others while playing as a footballer. He was one of the only two people to win the African Cup of Nations both as a player and as a coach.
